Florachem conducted a solvent equivalency test by comparing the effectiveness of FloraSolv™ LX100 to that of standard technical grade d-Limonene. FloraSolv™ LX100 is a 100% terpene-based, clear, colorless liquid produced from natural, renewable products. Purity and odor are carefully controlled yielding a consistent product. A special antioxidant package has also been added.

Florachem Expands Production Capacity in Mexico
Florachem Corporation announced today that it has entered into an agreement with Aromaticos Finos S.A. de C.V. to form a new company for the production of Fragrance and Industrial Chemicals in Mexico. The new company will operate under the name Arofisa S. de R.L. de C.V.
The manufacturing facility in Atlacomulco, Estado de Mexico is strategically located near the gum turpentine processing state of Michoacan. This multi-purpose plant has been producing citrus, pine and other fragrance chemicals for over thirty years. The main products currently being produced are Terpineol, Pine Oil, Dipentene and other Terpene chemicals. This new venture significantly furthers our strategic expansion into manufacturing. The factory will operate in concert with our essential oil processing facility in Mission Texas. A warehouse located in Mexico City will enhance domestic sales of these manufactured products as well as many of the other products Florachem distributes from its family of partners worldwide.

Millennium Specialty Chemicals transfers Synthetic Essential Oil Portfolio to Florachem
Millennium Specialty Chemicals, a division of Lyondell BaselI, announced the transfer of their Synthetic Essential Oil (SEO) portfolio to Florachem. Transition of the portfolio will occur in the 4th quarter of this year, with a competition date of December 31, 2009. Florachem will assume manufacturing and sales of the entire catalog of SEO. Our citrus business has been a core of our success for twenty years. In 2008, we increased our commitment to this sector by acquiring a citrus oil folding facility in Mission, Texas. This strategic location is well situated not only for incoming raw materials from Florida, California and Brazil, it is also next to the expanding Mexican citrus growing region.
In June of 2010, we added a manufacturing plant in Atlacomulco, Mexico. This site produces a variety of Florachem’s Pine Solvents including Terpineol AF100, Florasolv DPE Dipentene, and various Pine Oil products. Our pine-chemicals supply chain continues to extend reach into China, South America, United States, Scandinavia, and other countries within the Asia-Pacific region. We supply dimer acids, rosin and rosin esters, tall oil fatty acids, and a variety of solvents derived from pine chemicals.

Polymerized Rosin Products Added to FloraRez Line
Florachem is expanding its FloraRez™ line with three polymerized rosin products. These consist of rosin acids that have been partially dimerized to various degrees, yielding acid functionality with higher softening points than rosin. Non-crystallizing, these resins offer the formulator improved specific adhesion with less loss in cohesion. Applications include adhesives, inks, and coatings.

Florachem Purchases Citrus Oil Processing Facility
Florachem Corporation announced today that it has acquired the Citrus Oil Processing Facility located in Mission, Texas from Frutech International.

This acquisition reinforces that commitment and gives us the increased production capability we need to enhance our position in the industry.”
Strategically located near the increasingly important Mexican citrus growing region, this facility has successfully produced quality citrus products since 1991. Products produced in Mission, including Folded Orange and Grapefruit Oils and their corresponding Terpenes, will be shipped directly from the plant as well as being offered along with Florachem’s other products from warehouses in New Jersey, Chicago, Atlanta and Japan. Florachem has introduced several new odor mask products which are specifically formulated for cost effective industrial applications. Floramask™ products neutralize many undesirable odors such as sulfur and amine compounds. USDA Official Florida Citrus Crop Estimate for 2007-2008
Earlier predictions had estimated that next year’s Florida crop would be close to 200 million boxes. Today the USDA reported their forecast at a substantially lower 168 Million boxes. You can read the full report at here.
Florida Orange Forecast Reduced to 132 Million Boxes
The USDA today released their latest revised forecast for the 2006-2007 Florida citrus crop. The forecast was reduced by 8.0 million boxes, which will make this year’s crop about 11% less than last year, and the lowest production since the freeze plagued 1989-1990 season. The revision was made entirely within the early-midseason Navel oranges. The Valencia crop forecast remained unchanged, and is currently being harvested.

Florida Citrus Crop Estimate for 2006-2007 lowest in 17 years
The U.S. Department of Agriculture today released its first Florida Citrus crop estimate for the 2006-2007 season, anticipating production of 135 million boxes, down from last season’s total of 147.9 million boxes. The 9% decrease in production has been attributed to slow recovery of trees from hurricane damage two years ago. In addition, yields have been affected by canker eradication programs and simply a loss of tree acreage to land development.
A crop of 135 million boxes would be the lowest since the 1989-1990 season when freeze damage resulted in a yield of only 110.2 million boxes. Florida is second largest orange producing region in the world behind Brazil.
Florachem stragetically sources orange oil, d-Limonene and other derivative products from global production regions. Our goal is to manage supply such that we can meet the long term requirements of our customers.
Florachem introduces Dimer & Trimer Acids
Florachem has begun to offer Asian-produced Dimer and Trimer acids to the North American marketplace. Our Floradyme product line offers standard dimer acid, distilled dimer acid, and trimer acid. All products are available in both drum and bulk quantities from our US warehouses. Our industry experience with these products, combined with the support of ISO 9002 certified production plants in Asia, can offer customers viable supply alternatives.

Floratal fatty acids product line expanded
To meet the growing needs of our customers, Florachem has expanded our Tall Oil Fatty Acid (TOFA) product line. We have seven different fatty acid products which offer unique properties for customer formulation and cost requirements. Due to current market conditions, some products are more readily available than others. However, because of our product line expansion, we can offer customers more alternatives with short lead times.
